Dr. Gianni received her Ph.D. from Brown University with a dissertation titled “Fictive Kinship and Roman Childhood: A Social History”. She works primarily on the Roman family, Latin epigraphy and Roman social history. Before joining the department of Classical Studies at Tulane, Dr. Gianni taught at the University of Alabama and Brown University. She is currently working on her book, titled “Children in Ancient Rome: Social Relations and Familial Networks”.
