Capstone Senior Project Options and Course Scheduling Advice

(Revised Fall 2020)

Freshman and/or Sophomore Year Requirements
All DMPC majors are required to take these classes:

DMPC 2001 Digital Filmmaking Fund I (Offered Fall & Spring)
DMPC 2002 Digital Filmmaking Fund II (Offered Fall & Spring)
COMM 3150 Film Analysis

Junior (Spring Semester) and Senior Year Requirements

DMPC majors must choose a concentration that is tied to their final capstone project, which they will undertake over a full year.

Capstone senior project options are:

  1. Directing (Narrative) – Make a 10-13 minute short film.
  2. Directing (Documentary) – Make a 10-13 minute short film.
  3. Producing – Produce 2 capstone films.
  4. Screenwriting – Write a feature-length screenplay.
  5. Sound – choose from among these options:
    Create and Manage Sound for at least 2 Capstone Films
    Create a large-scale radio drama in the style of a multi-episode podcast
    Propose, plan and create an extended sound-oriented media project under the direction of a faculty member
  6. Cinematography
    Create and Manage the Cinematography/Lighting/Color for at least 2 Capstone Films
  7. Interactive Media/Creative Codingchoose from among these options:
    Propose a project utilizing the skills learned in courses from Digital Media, Computer Science, Music Technology, and Digital Art to create a large-scale project for presentation in the Spring semester.
    For example, propose, plan, and create:
    an advanced interactive sound instrument and perform an original composition with it.
    a conceptual video game for PC/Mac/iPhone/Android
    a web-based interactive media project
    an interactive music or digital media App for iPhone/Android

    *All proposed projects must receive faculty approval prior to the student’s senior year enrolling in Capstone I

Reading for 10-15 pages with actors from Theater
