Office Manager Paul Watson Receives 2016 President's Staff Excellence Award

Tulane University President Michael A. Fitts and Riptide visited the Economics Department on Monday December 12 to present Executive Secretary Paul Watson with a 2016 President's Staff Excellence Award -- and a check for $1000. The President's Staff Excellence Awards are annually granted to Tulane staff members who exhibit outstanding achievement in their contributions to the university by either increasing productivity within a department, contributing to significant cost savings or exceeding expectations of service. “The awards are given out to individuals who epitomize what dedication to the university is all about,” said President Fitts. Members of the Economics Department were also on hand for the surprise presentation to express their enthusiastic support and gratitude for Paul's many contributions to the department.

As of 2016, Paul has been at Tulane for a total of 21 years. From 1988-1995 he worked first with the Psychology Department and then the Graduate School. After earning his BS in Computer Information Systems at Tulane in 1994, he worked in the IT field as a programmer, systems analyst, and technical writer for several years. He returned to Tulane to manage Economics in 2002.

We are all so happy and delighted that Paul received this award. Congratulations!
