Biography

Elizabeth Kalos-Kaplan is a Professor of Practice teaching first-year writing and currently serves as the Director of the First-Year Writing Program. She specializes in rhetoric and composition, and in 20th century American literature. She earned her M.A. and Ph.D. in English at Tulane University. Her prior experience includes teaching English as a Foreign Language in the Frânche-Comté region of France and teaching reading and study skills classes around the southern United States. Dr. Kalos-Kaplan has also worked as a grant writer and an administrative director for two New Orleans-based nonprofits: a volunteer service corps and a legal advocacy group.
