Emily Wright

Emily Wright is a PhD Candidate and Charlotte W. Newcombe Doctoral Dissertation Fellow. She specializes in the U.S. South, Atlantic World, and American religious history.  Her current research explores the intersections of gender, race, and religious practice in the nineteenth-century American South: the public religious lives of antebellum white women and free and enslaved women of color, female education, female benevolent and missionary societies, and the physical and conceptual construction of sacred spaces.
