Jason Straight is a second year PhD student from St. Charles Parish, Louisiana. He received his bachelor's degree in history from Loyola University of New Orleans in 2010. He studies public education in the South from the Civil War through the Progressive Era. Straight's current research studies societal attitudes toward public education in the South and places parents, students, and teachers at the center of educational history.
