Karoline Aarbogen entered the PhD program at Tulane’s History Department in the fall of 2020. She is from Oslo, Norway and received her B.A. in History (2017) and her M.A. in History (2019) from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. Her M.A. thesis, titled “Servants of Saints: The Policy and Practice of African-American Slavery Within the Mormon Church, 1830-1865”, focused on the development of slavery within the early Mormon Church in the U.S. Her future work and eventual dissertation will focus on the U.S. South, slavery, and religion in eighteenth and nineteenth century America.
