Sarah Singh

Sarah Singh is in the first year of her pursuit of a History Ph.D. at Tulane. Although she has not finalized a major field or dissertation topic, she is interested in 18th century Atlantic interventions and interactions in the Americas and the complex nature of how now-absolutist understandings of "identity" (namely in the way of race and gender) and "power" were constructed, maintained and challenged between the 18th-20th centuries in the emergence of a republican United States. She is also interested in the modern social importance of "national identity" and is a Mellon Fellow in Community Engagement through Tulane's Center for Public Service.
