Biography

Raúl Alencar is a Ph.D. student of the Department of History at Tulane University. He is interested in social and commercial relations in the Early Modern Atlantic World. His past work has analyzed the social integration of French merchants in Colonial Peru during the early XVIII century. His current dissertation focus on the study of contraband trade networks that merchants of Colonial Peru and France established during the geopolitical and commercial transformations in the Atlantic world (1690-1750).
