Transfer Credit Approval

Transfer Credit

Transfer credits in the Department of Political Science are handled as follows:  Students must bring hard copies of their Transfer Credit Approval form (signed by their academic advisor), syllabus and course description to Professor Brox ( during office hours.  Additional information on transferring credit is available at

Study Abroad Credit

The Department of Political Science does not pre-approve courses that students plan to take when studying abroad.  Students should contact Professor Kiel (, the departmental study abroad advisorupon their return to campus to have study abroad courses officially articulated/transferred as Tulane Political Science courses.

Generally, if you are taking actual political science/IR courses (i.e. not a history course that talks about politics), you will get credit.  Most of the time, courses will transfer in at the 3000 level as major electives unless the Political Science Department offers an exact course equivalent at the 4000+ level.

Students should save all course syllabi from courses abroad.  Before departing, it is a good idea to consult with your major advisor about what courses you need to complete the major.  (Again, most courses transfer back as 3000 level elective courses.)
