Auditions for the 2024 Season

Summer Lyric Theatre at Tulane University will hold auditions at Dixon Hall, Tulane University, on Friday, February 16, and Saturday, February 17, for its 57th Season: Sweeney Todd, Anything Goes, and Pippin.

Summer Lyric Theatre at Tulane Audition Schedule

  • Friday, February 16
    • 5:00 p.m. AEA Auditions (you must be an AEA member to attend the Friday auditions)
  • Saturday, February 17
    • Adult Dance Auditions (age 17 years and up)
      • 9:00 a.m. Dance audition forPippin. Bring jazz shoes or character shoes.
        • Anyone auditioning for the characters of Pippin, the Leading Player, or Fastrada must come to the dance call.
      • 10:45 a.m. Tap audition for Anything Goes. Please bring tap shoes.
    • Adult Vocal Auditions (age 17 years and up)
      • 1:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, February 18
    • 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Call Backs as needed.

AUDITIONS FOR ADULT PERFORMERS (age 17 & Up)

Vocal Auditions

Please bring a headshot and sheet music in the proper key. Music should be in a book or 3-ring binder. Cuts should be clearly marked. An accompanist will be provided.

Prepare two (2) contrasting songs, 16-32 bars. Songs should show vocal range, acting ability and should be in the style of shows in our season. You may be asked to sing only one song cut.

Please note that the role of Mrs. Lovett (Sweeney Todd) has been cast already. All other roles are open.

Vocal Registration & Location

Please click the appropriate link to schedule an adult vocal audition. Bring a headshot and your completed vocal audition form and costume chart with you (both found at the link below). Performers should arrive at Dixon Hall 30 minutes before call time.

Dance Auditions

The 9:00 a.m. Dance Audition is specifically for Pippin. We are looking for trained dancers and experienced movers. Anyone auditioning for the characters of Pippin, the Leading Player, or Fastrada must come to the dance call.

The 10:45 a.m. Dance Audition is a tap audition for Anything Goes. Please bring tap shoes.

SEASON INFORMATION (Rehearsal & Performance Dates)

  • Sweeney Todd- rehearsals begin May 29 (AEA begins June 3) and runs June 20-23.
  • Anything Goes – There may be a tap rehearsal on June 23. Regular rehearsals (including AEA) begin June 24 and runs July 11-14.
  • Pippin - rehearsals begin July 15 and runs August 1-4.
