For 17 consecutive years, the Tulane Maya Symposium has been an important stage for conversation and interaction between specialists and non-specialists from different parts of the world. As importantly, it is also an occasion to come together and celebrate as a community.
We have been closely monitoring the pandemic development during the last couple of months. Considering the ongoing threats from the Omicron varient, as well as what the pandemic panorama in New Orleans will be like after our annual Mardi Gras celebrations, we made the difficult decision to cancel for a second year the Tulane's Maya Symposium.
This decision was not made lightly but considering the circumstances and having the TMS community safety as a priority, we opted to postpone our annual meeting until March 2023. To replace this loss, we will be planning several monthly online "Mesoamerican Dialogues" to partially mitigate this cancelation. Please watch out for more announcements soon.
We remain optimistic for the coming year and already working to see all of you in New Orleans. We are working on scheduling the TMS for March 9-12, 2023.
