Tulane Musical Theatre Workshop presents Urinetown in historic Dixon Hall
After last year’s heralded production of Spring Awakening, the Tulane Musical Theatre Workshop is back with the Tony Award-winning URINETOWN.  Originally, Urinetown was the show that no production company would touch.  It was only after winning audiences over at the New York Fringe Festival that Urinetown made its Off-Broadway debut in May of 2001 and subsequently transferred to Broadway in September 2001 just after 9/11.  The production would go one to play for 965 performances.

Thursday Night Jazz - Gerald French

Thursday Night Jazz, supported by a grant from Newcomb-Tulane College, is a new on-campus music series and a revamp of the Newcomb Department of Music’s long-running “Jazz At the Rat” program. Featured veteran jazz performers from the New Orleans music scene will be brought in each semester and perform along with the Jazz Program’s combos and big band. Events will be in the Recital Hall of Dixon Annex, 7-9pm, and  free and open to students and the general public.

Piano Workshop on the Taubman Technique method

Brenna Berman is a Certified Master Teacher of the Taubman Approach. She will speak about the foundational tools for effortless piano technique. She has 22 years of training as a performer and teacher of the Taubman approach. Ms. Berman helps computer users, knitters, painters, and others prone to repetitive stress injuries.

Friends of Music – Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center Piano Quartet

Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center is known for the extraordinary quality of its performances, for its inspired programming, and for setting the benchmark for chamber music worldwide. CMS Artistic Directors - and longtime New Orleans Friends of Music audience favorites - Wu Han (piano) and David Finckel (cello) join renowned artists Daniel Hope (violin) and Paul Neubauer (viola). These stellar musicians recently completed American and European tours as a piano quartet and released an album of Brahms, Schumann, and Mahler on the Deutsche Grammophon label.
