The Escher String Quartet, acclaimed for its profound musical insight and rare tonal beauty, received the BBC New Generation Artist award in 2010-12. Touring extensively, with recent debuts in Amsterdam, Berlin, Geneva, Tel Aviv and London, they appear in festivals worldwide and collaborate with classical artists as well as jazz and Latin musicians. The Quartet's expressive, nuanced performances combining textural clarity with a rich, blended sound have brought acclaim in the UK, Europe, China, and in the US where they were awarded the prestigious 2013 Avery Fisher Career Grant.

Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center is known for the extraordinary quality of its performances, for its inspired programming, and for setting the benchmark for chamber music worldwide. CMS Artistic Directors - and longtime New Orleans Friends of Music audience favorites - Wu Han (piano) and David Finckel (cello) join renowned artists Daniel Hope (violin) and Paul Neubauer (viola). These stellar musicians recently completed American and European tours as a piano quartet and released an album of Brahms, Schumann, and Mahler on the Deutsche Grammophon label.

One of the most distinctive artists of his generation, Stephen Hough combines a distinguished career as pianist with those of composer and writer. As the first classical performer to be awarded a MacArthur Fellowship, he also won the Royal Philharmonic Society Instrumentalist Award in 2010, and was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth in the New Year's Honours of 2014. Mr. Hough has composed works for orchestra, choir, chamber ensemble and solo piano. He is also a member of the faculty at The Juilliard School.

The extraordinary Dover String Quartet has become one of the most in-demand ensembles in the world. Rising to international stardom at the 2013 Banff Competition where it won every prize, it has also been honored with the Cleveland Quartet Award and the coveted Avery Fisher Career Grant. In 2015, the Dover was appointed the first Resident Ensemble of Peoples' Symphony Concerts in the 116-year history of New York City's oldest concert series.

Lyric coloratura soprano Lisette Oropesa made her Netropolitan Opera debut at age 22 as Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro) and has since sung over 100 performances at the Net. A specialist of the bel canto repertoire, she has built an internationally renowned career that includes appearances at San Francisco Opera, Opera National de Paris, Teatro Real, and Covent Garden, as well as oratorio, recital, and concert performances. Notable roles include Gilda (Rigoletto), Lucia di Lammermoor, and Konstanze (Abduction from the Seraglio).

Eloquent soloists with a long history of performing together, they display remarkable technical skill and stylistic understanding.

Welcome back to the Poulenc Trio and Alex Fiterstein! Joined by clarinetist Alex Fiterstein, the trio consisting of oboe, bassoon, and piano brings a varied program to open our season. With their strong commitment to commissioning, performing, and recording new works they are greatly expanding the repertoire for this combination of instruments. They also explore and perform music reflecting the members' African, Asian, Eastern European and Jewish roots in concerts around the world.
