Biography
Dietmar Felber is a native of Innsbruck, Austria, where he attended high school and university. He holds a Master’s Degree in German Language and Literature from the University of Innsbruck and a Master’s Degree in English from the University of New Orleans.
He has previously taught at the University of New Orleans and the University of Graz, Austria. At Tulane, he has enjoyed teaching Elementary and Intermediate German, with an emphasis on culture, literature, and film. In Fall of 2010, he teaches courses on grammar and composition as well as German culture and literature from the late 19thcentury to the present.
His main interests are German language teaching, translation, 19th and 20th German and Austrian literature and culture, Viennese modernism, German philosophy, and German cultural and postcolonial studies.
Besides reading and writing, he loves hiking, skiing, and traveling. Currently, he is planning another hike in the Alps and has recently finished a translation of Albrecht Dürer’s 1527 treatise on fortifications.
