Biography

Knud E. Berthelsen is a Professor of Practice at Tulane University with joint appointments in the Strategy, Leadership, and Analytics Minor (SLAM) and the Connolly Alexander Institute for Data Science (CAIDS).

At CAIDS, he developed and teaches DATA 2150 - Artificial Intelligence Tools, a course providing students with hands-on experience in employing generative AI for real-world tasks. He also leads Applied AI workshops for faculty, staff, and students. In the School of Liberal Arts, his focus is on analytics, strategy, and marketing. Berthelsen has previously taught courses on international business and the management of new ventures at the A. B. Freeman School of Business.

As the founder of a direct-to-consumer subscription e-commerce brand, he has extensive experience in data-driven digital and affiliate marketing. Through his consulting firm, he has delivered strategy and marketing services for a variety of domestic and international clients, including Fortune 500 companies, universities, and think tanks. His current consulting focus is on applied AI, helping organizations and individuals leverage AI tools to enhance their operations and decision-making.

A native of Norway, Berthelsen holds a BA in European and American Studies from the University of Oslo and an MBA in International Business, Strategic Management, and Leadership from Tulane University.
