Academic Interests
My current research focuses on the architecture of the imagination and how this can illuminate the intuitions generated by thought experiments in personal identity. I am interested in topics such as the following:
Metaphysics: Concepts; analyticity and the a priori; personal identity; process philosophies (esp., Hegel, Whitehead, Pierce)
Mind: Historical and contemporary perspectives on imagination (esp., Hume, Husserl, Sartre; Gendler, Kind, Leeuwen, Langland-Hassan)
Perception: Nonconceptual experience and cognitive penetration
Epistemology: Thought experiments; the relationship between knowledge and understanding
