Biography
Billy Theriot is an Adjunct Professor in the Digital Media Practices Department. His sound mixing, sound effects, foley, and dialog editing credits include over 50 feature films, documentaries, and television series. Among those, he has worked for Larry Blake on the sound editorial team for most of Academy Award-winning Steven Soderbergh's films since 2005 including “Behind The Candelabra" for HBO which won 11 Emmys including best sound mixing. He also has extensive experience in almost every aspect of post sound from turnover and editorial, through the final mix and M&E, including all versions for final delivery.
From 2005 to 2017, he was also the ADR mixer/recordist at Swelltone Labs in New Orleans. Among the hundreds of ADR and voiceover sessions he engineered, he was the ADR mixer/recordist on every episode of the critically-acclaimed HBO series Treme and for the Academy Award best picture nominee Beasts of the Southern Wild, where he was nominated for the Best Sound Editing: Dialogue and ADR in a Feature Film for the 2013 MPSE Golden Reel Awards.
At his own facility, Southern Sound Services, he records ADR and voiceover for both local voice talent and the multitude of actors visiting New Orleans for the many movies and television series that are filmed here. At his studio, he also does sound editorial and mixes for theatrical films, streaming series, and advertisements across the nation.
