Biography

Marion Forbes is a filmmaker, interdisciplinary artist, designer, and educator. As a director, she created her first short film, Timbre, which was a Student Academy Award Semi-Finalist in 2021. She has two short films streaming on iNDIEFLIX and was featured on the Crafty and Girls in Film online platforms. Marion was a producing fellow with New Orleans Film Society’s Southern Producers Lab in 2023, a recipient of the PLATFORMS Artist grant in 2024, and a Southern Foodways Alliance film resident in 2025. As a producer, Marion works with talented artists across the US to produce short and feature length projects. Recently, she produced the comedy feature film, Brenda, which was completed in 2026.

Marion is most interested in stories that center around the interstitial places in one’s life, uncovering the beauty in the everyday, and overlooked histories. Her research centers on the intersection of architecture and film, focusing on dream logic, big-ness, and the perception of space on screen.
