Biography
Claire Lebas is a French native, born in Paris, raised in Normandy. She obtained a “Licence de Lettres Modernes” from the University of Caen in 1985 and taught French for several years in Caen. She came to Tulane University in 1992 as a graduate student / teaching assistant and obtained a Master’s Degree in 1994 and a Ph.D. in 2001 in French Literature. (Her dissertation topic was the series of Arsène Lupin by Maurice Leblanc.)
Claire Lebas has been teaching French as a foreign language for many years, at different levels and in different institutions around New Orleans, Louisiana. She has a wide range of interests: late 19th – early 20th French literature, detective novels, French in Louisiana, French for lawyers, plurilinguism, etc.
