Biography

Alba Giménez-Sánchez is a Spanish historian. She entered the PhD program in 2022 after receiving her MAs in Colonial Latin America and Pedagogy Training at the Universidad de Sevilla. Her main focus is the origin of local identity in Seventeenth-Century Havana, which involves analyzing the relationship between the criollos and the defensive system, the transformation of the landscape and gender relations in Havana, among others. Her aim during the program is to continue exploring the different categories of identity and their application to colonial society.
