Biography

Keith Richards is a PhD candidate in the Department of History at Tulane University. He studies contraband in eastern Cuba in the 17th century. His research interests include the nature of colonialism, ideas of subjecthood, and local society in eastern Cuba and its relationship with the broader Caribbean.

He graduated magna cum laude at the University of Central Florida with BAs in History and Spanish. His research has been supported by the Roger Thayer Stone Center for Latin American Studies, the Latin American and Caribbean Collection at the University of Florida, and the Omohundro Institute of Early American History & Culture.
