Biography

Liyi is a native of Taiwan and has extensive experience in teaching both English and Chinese to students of different ages and levels. Prior to joining Tulane, she served as a licensed ESL teacher in a bilingual elementary school as well as an academic paper editor and study abroad consultant in Taiwan. She has also taught at Columbus Chinese Academy and The Academy of Chinese Studies in New Orleans. At Tulane, she has offered Chinese courses from introductory through advanced levels, including Beginning Chinese I, Beginning Chinese II, Intermediate Chinese I, Advanced Chinese Language II, and Advanced Read & Write. In addition to Tulane, she has taught Chinese at Loyola University New Orleans and Xavier University of Louisiana. Her pedagogical interests focus on collaborative language learning, community-based language learning, task-based pedagogy, and the use of multimedia in language learning.
