Biography
Roger Horowitz is Director of Center for the History of Business, Technology, and Society at the Hagley Museum and Library and Professor of History and Jewish Studies (part-time) at the University of Delaware. His most recent book, Kosher USA: How Coke Became Kosher and other Tales of Modern Food (2016), received the National Jewish Book Award in American Jewish Studies and the Dorothy Rosenberg Award of the American Historical Association. His previous books include Putting Meat on the American Table (2006) and “Negro and White, Unite and Fight!” A Social History of Industrial Unionism in Meatpacking, 1930–1990 (1997). His current book project explores Jewish preference for poultry and its concomitant impact on American foodways and provisioning systems.
