Dr. Ilana Horwitz, Assistant Professor and Fields-Rayant Professor in Contemporary American Jewry, is leading the third cohort of the Doctoral Fellows Program at the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Center for Studies in Jewish Education at Brandeis University.
The doctoral fellows program provides intellectual and professional support to a small group of current doctoral students in North America and Israel-based universities whose research is, in one form or another, related to Jewish education.
Dr. Horwitz’s leadership of the group exemplifies the Stuart and Suzanne Grant Center’s commitment to advancing the field of American Jewish Studies by supporting new approaches, upcoming scholars, and collaboration both across disciplines and across institutions. The 2022-23 cohort hails from Brazil, the United States, and Israel, and is working on projects as varied as religious education, Holocaust education, and social justice education in the Jewish day school setting.
