Assistant Professor and Catherine and Henry J Gaisman Faculty Fellow Golan Moskowitz was recently awarded the 2022 Tulane University Publication Award, awarded annually to Tulane scholars or investigators with the best book published in the previous year. Moskowitz’s book, Wild Visionary: Maurice Sendak in Queer Jewish Context, focuses on the way that Sendak’s Jewishness – including being the child of Holocaust survivors – and his queerness informed and shaped his work. Called “fiercely engaging, deftly argued, and comprehensively researched,” by Stephen Whitfield for the Jewish Book Council, Moskowitz’s study has already been named one of the best Jewish biographies of all time by Book Authority.
