Biography

Elena Daniele received a PhD in Italian Studies from Brown University, a Master’s Degree in Italian Teaching Methodologies from Università per Stranieri di Perugia, and a Master’s Degree in Cultural Anthropology and Ethnology from University of Rome "La Sapienza." At Tulane she taught Italian language at the elementary and advanced level, a literature class in XV and XVI century Italian travel literature entitled “Italian Explorers of the New World”, and an interdisciplinary survey class in Italian literature from its origins to the present. She pursues research in early modern ethnographic travel writing and Renaissance Italy. In the academic year 2012-2013 she was awarded the J. M. Stuart fellowship at the John Carter Brown Library, where she conducted research on the Italian contribution to the early exploration of the Americas.
