The Religious Studies Minor offers students an opportunity to explore a variety of academic approaches to the study of religion. In addition to RLST courses like “Religions of the World,” courses are offered by faculty in numerous School of Liberal Arts departments, including Anthropology, Art History, Classics, English, History, Jewish Studies, Music, Philosophy, Political Science, and Sociology. The study of religion complements a major in all of these and other fields.
Our courses are concerned with fundamental and enduring questions concerning:
the nature of religion
the principles, practices or history of particular religions
the relation of religion and morality
the interpretation of religious texts
the role of religion in social and political life.
