The Strategy, Leadership and Analytics Minor prepares students to be leaders who can manage the dynamics of rapidly changing marketplaces and adapt strategically and creatively for future careers.
As an interdisciplinary minor, and through a curriculum divided into three components, it incorporates basic economic planning courses with classes throughout the arts, humanities, and social sciences, as well as specially designed SLAM courses focusing on leadership, ethics, law, public relations, marketing, and strategy.
Requirements:
Minors will take 18 hours of coursework that includes: one gateway course (3 credits), one economic planning or forecasting course (3 credits), and 12 credits of elective courses.
Gateway Course:
SLAM 1010: Entrepreneurial Leadership and Problem Solving in a Dynamic Economy
This course may be completed during any semester. There is no prerequisite for this class, nor is it a prerequisite for any other class.
Economic Planning Course:
- ECON 1010: Microeconomics
- SLAM 2010 Financial Literacy
- SLAM 2020 Financial Analysis and Budgets
- SLAM 2030 Introduction to Data Analytics
Students must complete at least one of the above courses. If a student wishes to take more than one Economic Planning Course, they may count any additional courses toward their elective requirement.
For example, if a student completes both ECON 1010 and SLAM 2010, they will only need nine more elective credits and SLAM 1010 to earn the SLAM Minor.
Electives:
A comprehensive list of SLAM electives can be found in Tulane University's Course Catalog
- AP/IB/A-level credit does not count toward the 12 credit requirement
- Courses from other universities, schools at Tulane, or from a study-abroad program will be considered for transfer credit on a case-by-case basis. No more than 2 classes (6 credits) may be transferred in from outside the Tulane School of Liberal Arts to satisfy the requirements of the SLAM degree.

Completion of the Major/Minor Declaration form is required.
