Professor Yutaka Horiba received his Ph.D. in economics from Purdue University in 1969 and joined the Tulane faculty in 1971. His academic articles are published in the American Economic Review, the Review of Economics and Statistics, International Economic Review, and other top economics journals.

While at Tulane, Yutaka supervised the dissertation research of twenty-six graduate students. In addition to other university service, Yutaka was chair of the economics department, director of graduate studies, and a university senator. Yutaka is a colleague, friend, and mentor for many in the Department of Economics.
