Want to combine pre-med with French? Study to be a doctor and work in Haiti, Senegal, or another Francophone country for the UN or Doctors Without Borders? Then the Diploma in Medical French is for you.
The Professional French Diploma in Health Care (Diplôme de français professionnel dans le secteur de la santé) is intended for medical professionals and students (whether pre-med and med school) who want to interact with Francophone patients and healthcare professionals and read medical documents written in French. It provides test-preparation and certification in French for medical professionals and students so that they can communicate efficiently in French with patients and their families and with other medical personnel. It allows medical institutions and companies within the field of health care to better serve French-speaking patients and clients or to expand into Francophone markets.
The Diploma assesses the test-taker’s level of comprehension and expression in both written and oral French. It does so by evaluating how the test-taker accomplishes tasks in French simulated from the medical and paramedical professions.
The certification exam evaluates proficiency in French at the B2 level on the following topics:
- Knowledge of illnesses and their treatments
- Mastery of vocabulary of physicians’ ordinary tasks (physical exams, questions about patients’ daily behavior)
