The Language Learning Center (LLC) provides space for inclusive teaching and learning for both students and faculty. The LLC is an institution within the School of Liberal Arts and the go-to place for language placement for Newcomb-Tulane College students, language offerings, language events, and a direct entry into the School of Liberal Arts for incoming students. The center collaborates with all language departments and programs within the School of Liberal Arts to promote students’ language learning and help them attain the highest levels of proficiency and academic and professional achievement.
The LLC promotes opportunities for study abroad to so that students become fully immersed in the chosen language and culture, and combine their language study with their other pursuits.
Our language courses are designed to foster the practical language abilities of our students. Working toward learning objectives, students will acquire a variety of transferable skills and cultural awareness.
Students fulfill their Tulane language requirement by demonstrating Intermediate proficiency level in reading, listening, writing, and speaking. Students can achieve and demonstrate this in one of the following ways.

The mission of the Language Learning Center is to promote, encourage and support the learning and teaching of world languages, thereby furthering the strategic goals of the School of Liberal Arts departments and programs, as well as the mission of Tulane University. LLC is committed to immersing Tulane students in an enriching language learning experience by supporting SLA language departments and programs in providing the highest quality of language education to expand students' global perspective and explore diverse ways of life and enhance their professional potential.
Languages education is highly relevant throughout all sectors of the economy from business, politics to health. The LLC developed several language education initiatives. The goal for these initiatives is to prepared Tulane students to be adaptable global citizens and help foster their expertise and practical skills in order to graduate with real employment outcomes. Our initiatives are geared toward “nurturing respect for all, building a sense of belonging to a common humanity and helping learners become responsible and active global citizens.”
