Biography
Lauren finished her Ph.D. in Urban Studies at the University of New Orleans in 2012. Her research asked questions about identity and the recreation of the self and others through the adoption of Afro-Brazilian cultural practices. She has a chapter coming out in 2018 in a volume addressing the nature of authenticity in urban planning. The chapter reflects specifically on women's experiences with the adoption of Afro-Brazilian dance praxis.
