Biography
Philip de Mahy is a Professor of Practice in American Politics. His teaching focuses on American political institutions, including the presidency, Congress, and federal bureaucracy. Before returning home to South Louisiana, he lived in Washington, D.C., where he completed his Ph.D. in Politics at the Catholic University of America and worked at the Institute for Policy Research. In addition to his work on American political institutions, his research studies the interplay among politics, culture, and local communities in south Louisiana, exploring how regional identity shapes political behavior and policymaking. Philip hosts a weekly public affairs show called Bayou Politique on KRVS, Acadiana’s NPR affiliate, and interviews politicians, cultural figures, and everyday citizens in the region.
