Biography
Baris Alan is a PhD student in Political Science at Tulane University. He is a Fulbright scholarship recipient for Turkey in 2020. His research interests are in the subfield of international political economy, focusing on the weaponization of interdependence. His dissertation project examines the conditions that enable a regional power to use migration interdependence as a bargaining tool against stronger actors. He holds a B.Sc. in Political Science (top student of the class) from Middle East Technical University (Turkey) and an MA in International Development and International Political Economy from the University of Kent. He was awarded the Jean Monnet Scholarship from the European Union during his MA studies.
