Biography

Adebimpe Adegbite (Ade) is a PhD student in Linguistic Anthropology. He earned his BA in English from Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria; he has an MA in Linguistics from Syracuse University, New York and a second MA in (Linguistic) Anthropology from Tulane University. He is interested in multiple areas of family language policy, sociolinguistics, heritage bilingualism, applied linguistics, and language teaching. His research is on Yoruba proverbs, specifically the composition and meaning of the proverbs and how they are efficient tools in teaching children Yoruba language and culture. Ade was a Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) at Florida Memorial University, Miami Gardens (2016/17) and an ESOL instructor at Syracuse University (2017-19). He is passionate about language teaching and documentation, and has presented research papers in multiple academic conferences.
