Borislava Simova is a Ph.D. Candidate in Archaeology. Simova has a M.A. in Anthropology from The University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, and a B.A. in Anthropology from University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. Her excavation experience includes projects in the American Midwest, Mexico, and Guatemala. Simova’s dissertation research explores the role of monumental construction in structuring emergent communities through excavation at the site of Actuncan, Belize. Other research interests include ritual practice and social identities, as constructed through material objects, particularly ceramics.
