Biography
David J. Watt is a PhD student in Anthropology with a focus on Southeastern Archaeology. Mr. Watt has a M.A. with Honors in Anthropology from Tulane University, and a B.S. in Anthropology and History and a minor in Native American Studies from Illinois State University. His research resilience and revitalization movements among Lower Mississippi Valley communities. He has published research in the journal Southeastern Archaeology, served as a contributing author on multiple technical reports, and presented at conferences in the United States and internationally. Mr. Watt has taught courses at Tulane including Louisiana Archaeology and Contemporary Native American Issues. He has a commitment to public outreach and is a frequent presenter at public schools, museums, and local communities. Previously, he has worked for the National Center for Preservation Technology and Training conducting GIS analysis of coastal archaeological sites and his research continues to have prioritize at-risk cultural properties in Louisiana.
