Biography
Jordan Kobylt is an Anthropology PhD student focused on Maya archaeology. His research interests broadly include ancient households, urbanism, settlement patterns, and social structures, and he is particularly interested in using those concepts to understand how people in the ancient Maya world actively participated in larger social, political, and economic processes. He has worked at several Maya sites in both Mexico and Belize, including most recently at the Classic Maya site of Palenque, located in modern day Chiapas, Mexico. Before coming to Tulane, Jordan received his BA in Anthropology from UC Berkeley and spent three years working as an archaeological technician in the forests and deserts of California and Oregon.
