Biography
Travis Fink is a PhD Candidate studying indigenous Amazonian conceptualizations of history and mobility and migration primarily with the Shiwiar people of the Ecuadorian Amazon. He also works with the Pastaza Runa (Canelos Kichwa) and Achuar peoples of the Pastaza and Bobonaza River basins. He completed his undergraduate studies in anthropology and Latin American Studies at the University of Pittsburgh. In both his undergraduate and graduate studies, he was awarded Foreign Area and Language Studies (FLAS) Fellowships to study the Achuar-Shiwiar and Napo/Pastaza Kichwa languages. His dissertation, titled, “Shiwiar Identity Formation and Transformation in the Ecuadorian Amazon” was funded by a Fulbright-Hays DDRA, Jacobs Research Funds Individual Research Grant, and Tulane SLA Dissertation Completion Fellowship.
