Alumni Spotlight: Dr. Mark Charney

Mark Charney, who received his Ph.D. in English from Tulane in 1987, recently developed a play about Jack Kevorkian in both London, under the direction of James Kerr and DC, at the Rose Theatre, entitled Last Rites. The play is being considered for production at the Donmar Warehouse, the National Theatre, the Old/Young Vic, and the Royal Court for the 2023-24 season. His most recent play, Garage Door, will be presented October 18th and 19th at the Rose Theatre in DC. Tickets can be reserved at the Rose Theatre Co. website. Charney also won the Global Engagement Community Award in 2021 at Texas Tech, where he has served as Director of the School of Theatre and Dance since retiring from Clemson as Professor Emeritus in 2012.
