Biography

Joe Letter received his Ph.D. in English from Louisiana State University in 2006. His research focuses on popular historical novels in nineteenth-century American literature, and he also has a secondary focus on composition pedagogy. He has presented his work at numerous conferences and has published articles in American Literature, Early American Literature, American Periodicals, Studies in American Fiction, The Oxford History of the Novel, Reflections: A Journal of Service Learning, College English, and Pedagogy, His latest essay, “Cooper’s Revolutionary Novels: Surface Reading and Grotesque American History” can be found in Approaches to Teaching the Novels of James Fenimore Cooper (MLA, 2022).
