Biography
Melissa Richard earned a Ph.D. in English Literature from the University of North Carolina — Greensboro in 2013, specializing in 19th and 20th Century British and Commonwealth Literatures. She received her master’s and bachelor’s degrees from the University of Louisiana — Lafayette. Before coming to Tulane in 2026, she taught first-year writing, digital writing, and global women’s literatures at High Point University (NC). Her teaching and research areas include first-year writing, digital rhetorics, women’s literature, transnational feminisms, genre and performative theory, and autoethnography, life narrative, and self-writing. Current works in progress include a photo essay about place and identity in South Louisiana and autoethnographic explorations of what it means to “know” something through the filter of music and memory.
