Welcome to Middle East and North African Studies
Drawing upon faculty strengths in Tulane’s School of Liberal Arts, faculty in Middle East and North African studies allow students to learn about a complex region through an interdisciplinary approach. Based in a number of departments and programs in the humanities and social sciences, faculty offer a wide array of courses to provide a broad background in the region’s past and present. By introducing students to the rich history, layered politics, diverse cultures, linguistic, and religious traditions of the Middle East and North Africa, Tulane’s faculty seek to transcend simplistic generalizations and stereotypes about the region and its people while promoting global literacy in an increasingly interconnected world.
