Environmental Studies Minor


Prof. Amalia Leguizamon is serving as the EVST academic advisor for the Fall 2021 semester.


The EVST minor is comprised of one introductory course, three designated electives, and one capstone course, for a total of 16 credits. Students focus their study on key environmental issues facing local communities through the tier-2 service learning capstone.

Requirements for Minor

Requirements for minor in EVST include (Four three-credit courses plus one four-credit course) as follows:

  • EVST 1010 Introduction to Environmental Studies 
  • EVST 4210 (tier-2 service learning) Environmental and Social Justice (Pre-requisite: EVST 1010)
  • Three Electives from approved EVST major classes 

Required Course:

EVST 4210 Environmental and Social Justice

Required tier 2 service learning. In this class, students will work with a community partner to implement a project that will address issues of environmental and social justice in a community context. Credit Hours: 4
