Norma McCorvey (top left), more popularly known as “Jane Roe” was born in Simmesport, Louisiana. She was the plaintiff in the 1973 landmark American legal case Roe v. Wade in which the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that individual state laws banning abortion were unconstitutional.
