Biography

Patrick Butler completed his doctoral work in Medieval Studies at the University of Connecticut in 2018. His research interests include Medieval Romance literature, paleography, and medievalism in contemporary media.

His forthcoming publication, an extension of the article above, “A Cold and Gentle Place: Medieval Resonances and Subversive Vulnerability in the Dark Souls Series,” will appear in the edited collection Playing the Middle Ages (Bloomsbury, 2023).
