Aigerim Magavina

Aigerim Magavina is a Professor of Practice in Collaborative Piano at Tulane University’s Newcomb Department of Music. Born in Almaty, Kazakhstan, she trained in Piano Performance, Collaborative Piano, and Pedagogy at Baiseitova Music College and later at the Kazakh National Conservatory. Ms. Magavina moved to the United States in 2002 and earned her Master of Music in Performing Arts from the University of New Orleans in 2004. She has been recognized in competitions in Germany, Poland, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and the United States, establishing herself as a versatile and expressive performer with a strong international profile.

Since joining Tulane in 2004, Ms. Magavina has built a distinguished career as a collaborative pianist, vocal coach, and educator. She has worked extensively with the Tulane–Newcomb Choir, Musical Theatre Workshop, Tulane Opera, Tulane Orchestra, and the Music at Midday series, and she continues to support student and faculty recitals across the department. Her teaching integrates performance practice, collaborative artistry, and mentorship, preparing young musicians for both academic and professional success. Active in the New Orleans musical community, Ms. Magavina maintains a vibrant schedule as a recitalist, collaborative pianist, and instructor. Her work reflects a deep commitment to artistic partnership, cultural exchange, and the development of emerging performers.
