Howard-Tilton Memorial Library
As Tulane University's main library, the Howard-Tilton Memorial Library supports the university's undergraduate and graduate programs in the humanities, social sciences, and science and engineering. It also is a major cultural resource for researchers and scholars from throughout the Louisiana-Gulf Coast region. Its unique collections in areas such as Latin American studies, jazz and New Orleans history often draw researchers from around the globe.
Music Research Support
All of the printed books, scores, and reference materials for music are located on the 6th floor of Howard-Tilton Memorial Library. At Media Services (also located on the 6th floor), you’ll find music-focused support for your research, learning, and teaching needs, the Creative Technology Lending Collection, and a rich collection of music recordings, movies, and documentaries. The Hogan Archive of New Orleans Music and New Orleans Jazz
The Hogan Archive of New Orleans Music and New Orleans Jazz, a unit of Tulane University Special Collections (TUSC), supports the research and study of New Orleans music and culture of the late 19th and 20th centuries forward. Hogan holdings include archival collections, business papers, personal papers, sound and video recordings, sheet music, photographs, ephemera, and various printed materials. The musical cultures of New Orleans represented include, but are not limited to, jazz, ragtime, rhythm and blues, blues, gospel, Creole songs, and other forms of Black American popular music.
