Biography

Brandon Banks is a Lecturer of Piano and Collaborative Pianist at Tulane University. Originally from North Carolina, he began his piano studies at the age of 14. During his education, he began working in community theater. He has musically directed over 60 musicals, including Rent, In The Heights, Jagged Little Pill, 9 to 5: The Musical, Urinetown: The Musical, The Color Purple, Guys and Dolls, Company, Pippin, and Blood Brothers. He serves as a music director at the Jefferson Performing Arts Center in New Orleans and the performing arts camp Belvoir Terrace in Massachusetts. He has accompanied vocalists, instrumentalists, and choirs throughout the United States. He specializes in the music of Paul Hindemith and is currently working on recording all the works written for piano. His doctoral treatise titled “Uncovering Word Painting and Motivic Structures within Paul Hindemith’s Das Marienleben” is his first significant publication. He is a member of the music honor society Pi Kappa Lambda and has previously worked at the New Orleans Center For The Creative Arts (2025-2026) and Loyola University (2024-2026).
